Szamreta
JASON SZAMRETA has been with Vivid Stage since 2013. Off stage, he works with NJ-based playwrights in new play development, and as a playwright himself. Jason was co-playwright with Vivid Stage’s own Laura Ekstrand for What Stays, produced in their 2017-18 season. He has worked at various NY and NJ theaters, including the Metropolitan Playhouse, The Triad, George Street Playhouse, Women’s Theater Co., and The Theater Project. Jason is interested in roles and works that explore the deepest levels of humanity with its triumphs and challenges. He is drawn to characters who are complex and flawed. He is a big fan of NJ-based playwrights, especially Laura Ekstrand, Phoebe Farber, and Barbara Blumenthal-Ehrlich and the New Jersey Play Lab (founded by two talented women: Cheryl Katz & Kaitlin Stilwell). Jason encourages you to support NJ theater artists- actors, playwrights, designers, etc. To learn more about some of the aforementioned, local talent, check out these links: www.barbarablumenthalehrlich.com and www.njplaylab.org. Jason is truly thankful to be a part of the Vivid community, with its group of amazing artists and generous audiences.
